We've tidied up our LinkedIn Group
The MARQUES LinkedIn Group has been going for quite a few years now (since March 2009, to be precise), so it seemed a good idea to give it a bit of a tidy-up. This is because some of the discussions had become old and lacked the sort of relevance and interest level that active members of this dynamic, moderated Group might expect. For example, some were in effect requests to find out who was attending MARQUES meetings that have already taken place, or notices concerning the opportunity to participate in consultations for which the closing date has long expired.

This is because some of the discussions had become old and lacked the sort of relevance and interest level that active members of this dynamic, moderated Group might expect. For example, some were in effect requests to find out who was attending MARQUES meetings that have already taken place, or notices concerning the opportunity to participate in consultations for which the closing date has long expired.
When you next visit the MARQUES LinkedIn Group, which you can do by clicking here, you will see therefore that the number of discussions has been substantially pruned. You will also see that the Group is now seeking to make some use of LinkedIn's poll facility. This is a little less private than most internet-based opinion polls since, although readers can't see how you've voted (unless you are the first person to vote), they can see that you have voted. Still, it seems worth a try, to see whether Group members appreciate it or not. The Group started a poll yesterday on the efficacy of what some regard as a rather risky piece of brand promotion relating to the MARMITE product (noted on Class 46 yesterday, here).
For the record, the MARQUES LinkedIn Group now has 2,428 members, of whom 56% describe themselves as being at senior management or partnership level. The Group is growing rapidly, at the rate of around 15 new members a week, and all discussions are scrupulously moderated to make sure that they really are discussions.
