MARQUES joins EUIPO User Group Meeting
|
Use of the international trade mark system fell by 6.1% in 2022, but the number of designs included in international applications under the Hague System increased by 11.2%, according to figures published by WIPO

The EUIPO User Group Meeting took place in Alicante during the week of 27 March. This was the 34th meeting since they began in 1998.

Representatives from 16 associations, including MARQUES, took part in the meeting and discussed EUIPO's efforts to assist SMEs, the digital transformation and proposed legislative reform for designs. EUIPO has posted a video about the meeting on its LinkedIn page. The Office stated: "Users are at the heart of the EUIPO's work, and this meeting serves to give them voice and air their views on procedures, practices and tools that impact them directly." MARQUES was represented by External Relations Officer Alessandra Romeo and Johannes Fuhrmann, Chair of the ETMLP Team. Alessandra Romeo, Johannes Fuhrmann and Mikas Miniotas, Co-Chair of the Designs Team, represented MARQUES at the Liaison Meetings on Cooperation, Trade Marks and Designs that took place on 28, 29 and 30 March. 2021 Awareness Grants EUIPO has published details of the impact of the 2021 Awareness Grants. The 12 projects reached more than 106 million people in 14 EU countries. There were two strands, focusing on education and consumers. More details are available on EUIPO's website here.
