Old book, new edition! Russell-Clarke and Howe is out again
Thomson Reuters has announced the publication later this month of a new edition -- the ninth -- of Russell-Clarke and Howe on Industrial Designs. In a field like design law, where there are not that many practitioner's' and reference texts, any new book is news, and Russell-Clarke and Howe has plainly stood the test of time (we doubt that any readers of this blogpost were around and in practice when the first edition of what was then just Russell-Clarke emerged in the middle of the previous century).
In keeping with long-standing tradition, the book's cover is dark and solemn and its web page is dull and unexciting. However, it does confirm what we guessed all along, that if you are a user of this book you will pay handsomely for the privilege: the price is £325. Despite all the fuss about Brexit, the book very properly covers both registered and unregistered EU designs as well as the range of rights available in the book's native UK.
