European Commission consultations: please take note
Brand owners and their advisers have until 15 April to contribute to the European Commission consultation on the enforcement of intellectual property rights.
The consultation consists of five different questionnaires for the different stakeholder groups including right holders, the legal profession and consumers and they are available here: Have your say on the enforcement of intellectual property rights. The consultation focuses on the effectiveness of the 2004 EC Directive on the enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPRED), particularly in the online environment. The consultation is an element of the Commission’s Digital Single Market strategy and envisages the modernisation of IPR enforcement, focusing on commercial-scale infringements and its cross-border applicability.

In a separate consultation, as part of its “follow the money” strategy, the Commission is also asking right holders to give feedback on best practices in supply chain integrity here: Due diligence and supply chain integrity for intellectual property protection. The deadline is 6 April 2016.
