France: eBay heavily condemned
In a ruling issued today, the Tribunal de Commerce of Paris issued a judgment against eBay.
Six companies of the LVMH group were suing the auction website for allowing trade mark infringement by knowingly letting users sell counterfeit goods.
The court ordered eBay to pay 38.6 million euros in damages. eBay was also ordered not to allow further sales of four perfumes trade marks (Kenzo, Christian Dior, Givenchy and Guerlain), since those are sold through selective distribution networks.eBay has announced that it is appealing against this decision.
