New articles on trade marks in Europe
Although it's just the beginning of January, the February/March issue of the bimonthly World Trademark Review has already been published. This issue discusses the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market’s latest study, European Citizens and Intellectual Property: Perception, Awareness and Behaviour, which polled 26,500 European consumers on their attitudes to intellectual property. It also considers "Fortress Europe", observing that Europe’s trade mark exhaustion regime is by no means straightforward and can pose particular problems for major brands seeking to manage complex multi-level distribution chains for their goods into and around Europe. You can check out this issue's contents in full here.
The Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice (JIPLP) has now published a number of articles and notes online for the benefit of e-subscribers, ahead of the paper publication date. These include "European trade mark law: registrable signs, service marks" by former OHIM legal head and Vice-President Alexander von Mühlendahl and "Personality disorder: Strategies for protecting celebrity names and images in the UK" by Jeremy Blum and Tom Ohta (both of Bristows). You can check out JIPLP's contents here.
