MARQUES is delighted to inform readers of the Class 46 weblog that there's an OHIM webinar, "Taxonomy – The User’s perspective", coming up on Wednesday 24 July at 11:00 am Central European Time and presented by OHIM classification expert Thom Clark.

In case you're a bit confused, Taxonomy is not the same as taxidermy.  Rather, it's the attractive name for a tool which you can find in OHIM's TMClass classification system, where it has been since 1 July 2013 (you can read what OHIM has to say about it here).

In short, Taxonomy is a new, hierarchical structure that facilitates faster, easier classification of goods and services through the Nice Classification framework. It's the brainchild of EU national and regional IP offices and OHIM, in collaboration with WIPO and with the contributions of users' associations, including MARQUES. Taxonomy is available through TMclass here. In the near future, Taxonomy will also be integrated into the new e-filing systems being developed by OHIM´s Cooperation Fund programme.
