Latest EU list of mineral water names now out
Posted on the website of the Official Journal of the European Union today is an updated List of Natural Mineral Waters Recognised by Member States (2011/C97/01). This list is 72 sides long and gives a country-by-country breakdown of names of natural mineral waters by (i) Trade description, (ii) Name of source and (iii) Place of exploitation.

Latest EU list of mineral water names now out
The list does not indicate which of the names are protected as protected geographical indications, protected designations of origin or national or Community trade marks. Nor does it feature any natural mineral waters from Malta.
Class 46 hopes that future revisions of this list will give some indication of the legal status of the names, since importers, distributors and retailers of natural mineral waters, as well as every business that deals in similar products, will then be more readily able to avoid infringing any rights in them.
