"Sustainable economy" means more (and better) IP - Spanish Government says.
By means of the very recently enacted Spanish Act 2/2011, on Sustainable Economy (you have to love this name), the Spanish Government will further strengthen the actual role of the Spanish Patents and Trade marks Office (SPTO) in the promotion and use of the IP rights and the fostering of competiveness of Spanish companies in the international arena.
Some specific measures are:
- the simplification of formalities during the registration procedure,
- the “usage of the Spanish language in IP international systems” (whatever this means),
- the reduction of official fees (18% less before 2012) in the light of the increasing use of the online resources and the SPTO’s “increasing efficiency”,
- the setting of terms for the resolution of administrative procedure (to be determined).
