UK to continue CTM owner notifications -- for now
The United Kingdom's Intellectual Property Office (IPO) provides a notification service for Community trade mark proprietors who -- if they so choose and pay the fee -- warns them if anyone files a UK application that may conflict with their marks. The IPO has now issued this notice indicating that, even though the level of take-up has been very low, it will continue to offer the notification service for the time being.

UK to continue CTM owner notifications -- for now
CTM owners who have opted to be notified will have the option to renew their opt-in for a further three-year period, but no notices will be issued to remind them that expiry of the initial opt-in is imminent.
It rather looks as though the notification service -- apparently the only such service offered to CTM owners by any national office within the EU -- would have been terminated but for the fact that the cost of fiddling around with the IPO's software would be too great within the confines of current public spending cuts.
