Seizure of counterfeit garments in Thessaloniki
YPEE, the special unit of the Greek Ministry of Finance, charged with tackling economic crime, has been busy with counterfeits these past days. According to two recent press releases, widely reproduced by Greek e-media, the unit, in two consecutive runs, raided 4 businesses in Thessaloniki this last week and confiscated an impressive number of counterfeit goods. The loot of the raids comprises 2,500 garments, 41,010 cloth labels, 5,800 paper labels, 1,491 belts, 607 bags and 178 wallets – without any authorization of course - bearing well known (but not identified in the press releases) trade marks of the clothing industry. Apparently one of the businesses did not even have a licence to trade and was situated (so to speak) in a half-finished building. The press releases (in Greek) can be found here and here.
