European Trusted Brands 2009

The Reader’s Digest has revealed the results of their Trusted Brand 2009 survey on their website.


The survey also names so-called “multi country winners” (i.e. brands that have been named as the most-trusted one in a given category in three or more countries out of the 16 countries the survey is conducted in).


The biggest “multi country winners” are:


Mobile phone handset: NOKIA, 16 countries (actually, the mark appears to have won every time in all countries where the survey has been done since 2005)

Skin care: NIVEA, 16 countries (actually, this mark also appears to have won every time in all countries where the survey has been done since 2005)

Credit card: VISA, 14 countries

Camera: CANON, 13 countries

Breakfast cereal: KELLOGG’S, 10 countries

Personal computer: HP, 9 countries


Writing from a Finnish person’s perspective, it must be mentioned that the Finnish leg of the survey also names so-called “super winners” (i.e. brands that have been named as the most-trusted one in a given category for a number of times in 2001-2009).


These results will also be revealed at www.luotetuinmerkki.fi in May 2009, and once they are revealed, the “super winners” should read as follows:


Mobile phone handset: NOKIA, 9 times number one

Mobile operator: SONERA, 7 times number one

Camera: CANON, 9 times number one

Travel agency: AURINKOMATKAT, 9 times number one

Bank / Financial institution: OSUUSPANKKI, 9 times number one

Credit card: VISA, 8 times number one

Vitamin preparation: MULTI-TABS, 8 times number one

Laundry detergent: OMO, 9 times number one

Painkiller: BURANA, 9 times number one

Color cosmetics: LUMENE, 8 times number one

Ready food: SAARIOINEN, 7 times number one

Coffee: JUHLA MOKKA, 8 times number one

Large household appliances: UPO, 8 times number one
