Portugal: Online searches available in English at INPI Portal
Please click here if you would like to test the new search portal yourself. This member of Class 46 is duly impressed by the service and can confirm that knowledge of "Shakespearean English" is not necessary to operate the search engine - even though the INPI's news item does suggest otherwise.

Portugal: Online searches available in English at INPI Portal
On its website the Portuguese National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) reports that inspired by the annual celebrations of the World Intellectual Property Day on 26 April 2008, INPI now provides online access to its INPI search portal in Portuguese as well as in English, allowing online search requests to be conducted in both languages:
"[The] INPI Portal will make available in English, and free of charge, all its search requests. We would like to underline that, besides the interfaces, the results of such searches have also been translated, in order to illustrate in the Shakespeare language the juridical status of IP Rights, the historical documentation and several bibliographic data. Searches are available by Intervening Entities (Applicants, Owners, Licensees and Inventors), Nice Classification, Phonetic Similarity, among others. It is also possible to have direct access by Application Number."
