Portugal: the end of DIU and other simplifications of the IP Code
The Portuguese IP Code will be modified by Decree Law N. 143/2008, of 25 July 2008. This text introduces measures of simplification.
The web site of the INPI indicates that:
* The great majority of the amendments will enter in force on 1 October 2008.
* Notwithstanding this, there are some amendments that entered already in force: the norm that eliminates the requirement of periodic presentation of the Declaration of Intention to Use (DIU) and the norms that improve the arbitration regimen in the Industrial Property Code.
