MARQUES to host three USPTO events

Three seminars on IRs and designating the US will be held in Paris (26th September), Milan (27th September) and Madrid (29th September)

The three events are hosted by MARQUES in collaboration with the USPTO and WIPO, and follow similar seminars held in other locations last year. They will cover trade mark filing strategies for International Registrations under the Madrid System.

The half-day seminars will feature speakers from WIPO and the USPTO and will be an invaluable opportunity for trade mark users to find out about specific requirements in the US compared with local practice, and to raise any issues and concerns they have.

They will be particularly relevant for users who designate the US in their IRs, who need to ensure that specifications meet the requirements of the USPTO.

The seminars will cover both legal and procedural issues, as well as explaining the tools available, and are designed to help applicants overcome objections when filing International Registrations based on the home application or registration.

The seminars have been planned for the benefit of in-house counsel, trade mark lawyers and paralegals who work with the Madrid System on a daily basis.

Seminar details

The Paris seminar takes place on 26th September starting at 09.00 and is hosted by Simmons & Simmons.

The Milan one is on 27th September starting at 14:00 and is hosted by Barzano & Zanardo

The final event, in Madrid, starts at 09:00 on 29th September. Elzaburu will be hosting it.

Each seminar will be followed by an opportunity to network with other attendees.

The fee for each event is €125 (members) and €150 (non-members). You can find out more and register on the MARQUES events page.

Last year’s seminars were held in Amsterdam, London and Munich. Read a report in the November 2016 edition of HouseMARQUES and a summary of the London event on Class 46.
