To ensure and improve the legal position of brand owners in particular by pushing for harmonization of laws and practices at international, regional and national level.
Responsibilities/Mission:
The International Trade Mark Law and Practice Team's mission is to represent the interest of brand owners in the field of international trade mark law and practice. It supports MARQUES? goal of harmonisation of laws and practices by monitoring existing systems, reviewing new proposals and making representations where appropriate. It takes a special interest in the development of international systems operated by WIPO, such as the Madrid Protocol.

Laura is a Council member of MARQUES and a project leader in the International Trademark Team of the association. Laura has over 25 years experience in Intellectual Property. Since 2008 she has been the Managing Partner of Dumont Bergman Bider. Her practice includes the complete lifecycle of IP rights from advising to litigation and enforcement, as well as licensing; she is a litigator both in the trademark and patent fields. Laura started in the field in a renowned IP firm and then moved to work at the Mexican Trademark Office (IMPI) where she was the sub-director for the Prevention of Unfair Competition in charge of all infringements. She has taught the subjects of trademarks, copyrights and Intellectual Property in several law schools in Mexico and has written many articles regarding IP. Laura has been recognized and awarded by major rankings and publications on the field. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Nathalie is a senior IP lawyer at Sedin SA located in Geneva. Her main focus is the definition of strategies for protection and defense of trademark and design rights. Her practice includes the advice to local and international companies, the availability searches, the prosecution and the defense of IP rights especially negotiations and settlement agreements. She moved to private practice in 2017 after working several years in a large FMCG company where she managed global IP portfolios. She holds a Master in Intellectual Property Law and New Technologies from the Centre for Intellectual Property Studies and Research, France. She regularly publishes articles regarding trade mark law and has been recognized on this field. She is fluent in English and French.
