Legal Designs on the Outline: a lecture
MARQUES member, design protection expert and author David Stone (he chairs the fabled MARQUES Designs Team) is to deliver a lecture, "Legal Designs on the Outline", at the Royal College of Art (Kensington Gore, London SW7 2EU) at 6 pm on Monday 19 May 2014. This is a free event, to which all are welcome.
If you're wondering what this strangely titled talk is all about, here's some background:
The use of the line is fundamental to the legal protection of designs throughout the world. It is often the case that the less graphic description in a design drawing, the more legal protection is provided. David Stone will speak on the history and use of the outline drawing in the legal establishment and protection of design, with particular reference to the Apple v Samsung 2012, case, and will take questions on these issues and other legal aspects of design protection.
