OHIM: four offices opt out of the national searches system
From 10 March 2008 national search reports for Community trade mark applications have become optional (see Class 46's earlier post). While 16 countries have particpated in this search system, this number will now be reduced to 12 in 2009. On its website the OHIM announced that:
Posted by: Frédéric Glaize @ 15.01"Ireland, Portugal, Sweden and the UK have decided to withdraw from the system of national search requests with effect from 1 January 2009. ... For marks with a reception date in 2009, national searches will be carried out in the 12 offices that continue to participate, and the new fee will be €144."
"The 12 national offices continuing to participate are: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Greece, Spain, Lithuania, Hungary, Austria, Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic and Finland."
