UK: The uncertain fate of Bradford and Bingley's bowler hat trade marks
The credit crunch with all its consequences inevitably also has an effect on IP rights. Now that Spanish Santander group has taken over Bradford and Bingley's saving accounts and branches and the UK government has control of Bradford and Bingley's loans and mortgages, the BBC examines the question of "Who'll get custody of Bradford and Bingley's bowler hat?" Given the fact that Bradford and Bingley's trade mark portfolio appears to include over 100 trade marks for Bradford and Bingley's famous bowler hat logo, with the logo having so far been used on both, now separate, business segments, this should be quite an interesting question.
