Germany: DPMA registration certificates now printed in colour
From 1 November 2008 onwards there will be a 'colourful' change to registration certificates issued by the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA). On its website the DPMA informs its users that from 1 November 2008 the Office will start issuing registration certificates printed in colour, provided the trade mark concerned includes a colour feature. The new certificates will be issued for such trade marks with a registration date on or after 1 November 2008. At the same time, the DPMA advises that the certificates will be printed in a mass printing procedure, which might cause a loss of print quality. Registration certificates may only be corrected in such cases where there is mistake during the printing process and this affects the distinctive character of the depicted trade mark.
