Artwork for Rolling Stones logo fetches $92,500

The BBC reports today that the original artwork for The Rolling Stones' "lips and tongue" symbol has been bought by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, for US $92,500. The original designer of the logo, John Pasche, was originally paid £50 for creating it. The news item does not record whether the purchase price includes any rights of exploitation; the logo is still in active use.

Note: if you visit the UKIPO trade mark search service and key in the words "Rolling Stones" in a search-by-proprietor, you will receive the literally correct but somewhat startling statement "No hits found".
