Who we all are...
Is it the Finns who are ripped off, or the Estonians?
The Baltic Course reports that foodstuffs sold in Estonian stores under the same brand names as in Finland are several times cheaper in Estonia. The Finns however state that the quality and raw materials used in those branded goods are inferior. Brands cited in the article are Atria minced meat, Facer bread and Paulig coffee. Pekka Pirinen (Managing director of Paulig) explained that the company's Presidentti coffee did indeed contain slightly different raw materials, depending whether it was destined for the Finnish or Estonian market. Presidentti is a premium product in Finland, where it is rarely discounted, whereas in Estonia Classic is the local leading brand, while the Estonian ‘President’ product competes in price with the Finnish Juhla Mokka coffee.
