New subordinate legislation in the UK
Laid before Parliament last week, the Trade Marks (International Registration) Order 2008 (2008 No.2206) comes into force on 1 October 2008. It revises and indeed replaces the Trade Marks (International Registration) Order 1996, giving effect in the UK to the provisions of the Madrid Protocol,
Also laid before Parliament last week were the Trade Marks (Fees) Revocation Rules 2008 (2008 No.2207), which likewise come into force on 1 October 2008. This instrument revokes the Trade Marks (Fees) Rules 2000 in so far as they related to fees payable in respect of matters arising under the now-replaced Trade Marks (International Registration) Order 1996 (see above), since fees for international registrations are now dealt with in the Trade Marks (International Registration) Order 2008.
And don't forget: the Trade Mark Rules 2008 (2008 No.1797) also come into force on 1 October 2008.
