Who we all are...
How criminals profiteer from the pandemic
An insightful Europol report has been shared by the European Observatory on how criminals are exploiting the COVID-19 pandemic.
The report shows that while many people are committed to fighting this crisis and helping victims, criminals have been quick to seize opportunities to exploit the crisis by adapting their modus operandi or engaging in new criminal activities, including by offering fake COVID-19 related medical products and protective equipment.
Although we all are aware that these types of activities have regrettably become an established type of shady business, we are still appalled by the fact that criminals take advantage of the high demand for these protective products, the fear in which we live and the increasing use of digital tools to provide healthcare, be able to work and get education.
You can find the full report on Europol’s website here.
