DPMA: increase in trade mark filings
Good news from the German Patent and Trademark Office DPMA. After an increase ("boom") of filings in 2013, the DPMA - according to a recent press release - expects another increase of national trade mark applications for 2014. Filing numbers for designs and patents have also increased. The DPMA's president Cornelia Rudloff-Schäffer is particularly pleased about the increase in trade mark filings, which in her view is "also a result of the simplified online filing procedure [at the DPMA] whichout signature which was introduced at the end of 2013". More than 50% of all trade mark applications at the DPMA are now filed electronically.
