UK IPO's "Fast Track Examination Consultation" now open
The UK IPO has alerted its users to a new consultation on whether to reintroduce the fast track examination procedure for UK national trade marks:
"The fast track procedure was originally introduced in April, 2008, but suspended in 2009 due to a combination of the low take up, and the short timescales to examination using the standard procedure, at that time.
In late 2012 the idea of reintroducing the service was raised. However, since then, the introduction of a new electronic processing system has meant that examination periods using the standard procedure are again very short. We believe that it is now an appropriate time to consult on the need, and demand for the reintroduction of such a service."
