Greece: Religion and alcohol don't mix
Confident of the quality of his product, a Greek applicant filed the trademark depicted left for alcoholic beverages, mainly tsipouro. However, the term "Agio Myro"(= chrism), i.e., consecrated oil used in religious ceremonies of inter alia the Greek Orthodox Church, did not sit well with the Examiner. The obvious religious connotation of the brand, contravenes Greek TM law, which expressly prohibits registration of marks comprising religious symbols.
