Who we all are...
Petit-beurres and what it means to be 1st
Petit-beurres were the sweet subject-matter of a recent case before the Greek Communication Review Board. The communication below for Allatini petit-beurres which reads ‘The 1st petit-beurre with chocolate is Allatini’ raised some eye-brows and triggered a complaint by competitor Papadopoulos.
The complaint revolved around the use (or mis-use depending on which side of the fence you are standing) of the indication “1st”. Though the document of the complaint is not public record, one can guess that Papadopoulos considered use of the said indication as a possibly inaccurate and misleading claim of qualitative superiority over competitiors. The CRB thought otherwise and held that the relevant communication is an obvious simple statement of time precedence (which apparently was true), i.e, that the communication merely asserts that Allatini’s chocolate petit-beurre was the first to appear in the market.
A fan of petit-beurres, this blogger prefers to have his chocolate petit-beurres, irrespective of brand preference, row-free.
