Thinking of merging your UK marks?
Following a public consultation in 2010, the UK's Intellectual Property Office is changing its practice with regard to the merger of current trade marks. This change takes place with effect from 1 October 2012 and means that you can request a merger of marks which (i) have the same filing date, (ii) are registered, (iii) are not subject to cancellation proceedings and (iv) are not marks which are the base for an international registration and are within their five-year dependency period.
