Top ten trade mark representatives in Switzerland
The table below shows the ten trade mark representatives that filed the most applications in 2011 in Switzerland, and the percentage change in new applications filed from 2010 to 2011 (last column). The total number of new national applications declined by about 3% from 2010 to 2011 (it is difficult to get exact data on this, because the period of reporting by the Swiss IPO goes from July to July and does not coincide with the calendar year).

The three leading firms all experienced a decline in the number of new filings, which with the exception of Isler & Pedrazzini AG was stronger than the overall decline in filings. Troller Hitz Troller continue their success story, climbing from 16th position in 2009 to 9th position in 2010 to 4th place in 2011. New in the top ten are Baker&McKenzie (Switzerland) and Tradamarca SA (you can find last year's ranking here).

As always, this ranking is based on quantity alone. Quantity does not mean quality. Draw your own conclusions. If you believe the numbers are wrong, send me an email.

Note: The ranking is based on the applications filed in 2011, not on the combined applications filed in 2010 and 2011. The numbers for 2010 are given for comparison only.

The data is from Swissreg, advanced search, the name of the firm selected as "representative", appropriate date range, only "new registration" was selected as "reasons for publication", all the options were selected for "status". Search carried out on 1 July 2012. If you believe your firm should be featured, please send me an email.

Disclaimer: I work for a law firm that also prosecutes trade marks. We are not among the top ten filers, so I don't think the fact that I am working for a competitor of the listed firms influenced the results in any way.
