The Telegraph reports that UK High Street fixture Boots the Chemist is to move into Norway as part of the ambitious expansion plan of its new owners, Alliance Boots. Apparently Alliance Boots has secretly converted seven of its Alliance Apotek-branded pharmacies in Norway into the Boots the Chemist format and the company's executive chairman has given approval for all 125 Norwegian stores to become Boots the Chemist shops. Other European countries are likely to follow. Apart from Norway, Alliance Boots owns more than 400 pharmacies in the Netherlands, Thailand, Republic of Ireland, Italy and Switzerland.
