WIPO paper reviews European case law, demystifies internet TM issues
It's 62 pages long and looks more formidable than it is, but Trademarks and the Internet, a document prepared by the Secretariat of the World Intellectual Property Organization's Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications, is one of the best and most useful pieces of legal information-gathering to have come out of WIPO in recent times. This paper has been prepared for the 24th session of the Standing Committee, which will be held at the beginning of November.

European countries whose case law is reviewed are, in alphabetical order, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany and the United Kingdom.  The document also explains the nature of trade mark issues in the social media and contains a number of useful annexes.

You can download the document in its entirety here.

Class 46 thanks Edward Smith for drawing our attention to this item.
