Germany's favourite car brands - Germans dream of Mercedes, Audi and VW
"If you had all the money in the world, which car would you buy?" The German newspaper Die Welt reports that according to a new survey conducted by TNS Infratest most Germans would answer this question by mentioning one of the following three brands: Mercedes, Audi and VW. In the article a spokesperson for TNS Infratest is quoted as saying that all three brands scored equally well with the German consumers. BMW and Porsche came as distant second and third.
So, Germans prefer German car brands. Not too much of a suprise perhaps but it may come as a surprise that even "with all the money in the world" German buyers would prefer a more modest Audi or VW over a sleek Porsche.
According to Die Welt this result reflects the idea of a "new modesty" in Germany. The survey also found that the Volkswagen and Ford brands, as well as the Peugeot and Skoda brands have considerably increased in popularity in recent times.
