Does German crooner Patrick Lindner own "Flocke"?
Yet another chapter in the Flocke saga. German tabloid Bild today reports that German crooner Patrick Lindner might have trade mark rights for "Flocke" and might "even earn millions of Euros due to his earlier rights". Experts estimate that Flocke marketing could be very lucrative with potential profits up to 6-8 million Euros. According to Bild, Lindner had already filed for trade mark protection for "Flocke" covering goods like sound carriers, sound recordings in 1994 together with his then boyfriend. Lindner's manager confirmed to Bild that Lindner's publishing company was called "Flocke" and Linder's lawyer was cited as saying this his client was non confrontational and "always interested in dialogue". A spokesperson for the Nuremberg Zoo told Bild that they had not been contacted by the singer yet and that they were unperturbed by the situation.
A quick look at the German registry's (DPMA) official website should further reassure the zoo. German trade mark No. 2076997 Flocke in the name of LINK GmbH covering classes 09, 16, 41 and filed in 1994, has already been taken off the register on 8 April 2004 due to non renewal... ?!
