ICANN: New TLD's policy
ArtTechnica website reports about the progress of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers' (ICANN) work on the new Top Level Domain's policy.
"[N]ew domains will be able to make use of nearly any string of letters—including common file extensions such as .exe, .doc, and .pdf—but there will be a number of other restrictions."The policies are being developed by Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO, an organization within the ICANN), however, GNSO also acknowledges
"that such potentially large expansion of TLDs could impact the stability of the current DNS system".Any comments concerning the new TLD's policy can be emailed to new-gtlds-dns-stability@icann.org and can be also viewed on ICANN's forum. Posted by: Tomasz Rychlicki @ 10.43
