Trouble for Gucci's face-to-face Gs in Sweden
According to a news item in The Local, global fashion emporium Gucci failed in its attempt to register its two face-to-face Gs logo in Sweden. Despite the fact that this logo is ubiquitous and has been registered in a large number of countries, the Swedish Court of Patent Appeals upheld a decision of the Patent and Registration Office that the same symbol, accompanied by the Swedish word Sömnadsindustri ("dressmakers"), was already owned by a business registered in Västra Frölunda, a suburb of Gothenburg.
