Brands in crisis conference in Athens
Apparently, the dark prospects of the recession have cast their shadow over the Greek advertising and media industry. If you are in Athens on March 30 (and can spare the conference fee) you can attend a one-day conference entitled “Brands in crisis”. The conference is organized and supported by the Greek Advertisers Association, several advertising companies, the (public) Greek Radio & Television Organization – ERT, two major television stations and other brand/advertising/media stakeholders. The programme and details (only in Greek ) can be found at the conference’s website here.
According to the information available on the site the conference will deal with, among others, the dangers that the recession holds for brands, the role of the media in the handling of the recession and new role of communication/advertising companies amidst the economic crisis. This Class46 member thinks it is certainly worthwhile for the brand/advertising/media industry to reflect and act on the crisis, however, he doubts whether this conference is anything more than a “we are in crisis – help” statement, without any real suggestions as to how the market should respond. Of course, the Class46 readers can judge for themselves, if they attend.
