Recent publications
Issue 4/08 of Sweet & Maxwell's International Sports Law Review (details from web page here) contains an article by Terry Miller (General Counsel, London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Ltd) on ambush marketing and Olympic brand protection. The article, "London 2012: Meeting the Challenge of Brand Protection", summarises the basic provisions that cover Olympic branding and ambush marketing, indicating that his company intends to make full use of its legal powers.

Volume 34 of the Proceedings of the Hungarian Group of AIPPI has now been published. Class 46 congratulates the Group on reaching its Centennial. This issue has much to interest the trade mark fraternity. Dr A. Vida writes on interim injunctive relief for trade mark infringement; Drs E. Millisits and I. Gonda discuss oppositions in Hungarian trade mark law and Dr K. Kelemen reviews judicial rulings on unfair trade practices.

The December 2008 issue of Sweet & Maxwell's European Trade Mark Reports has now been published. The ETMR's web page is here. Cases reported in this issue include
* Allergan Inc v Ocean Healthcare Ltd, the ruling of the Irish High Court that the defendants' BOTOINA cosmetic product infringed the plaintiff's BOTOX trade mark;Inspection copies of this publication are available from Jo Slinn here.
* The Italian Supreme Court ruling in Mega Bloks Inc v Lego System A/S, dealing with a complex set of claims and counterclaims involving trade mark law and unfair competition;
* Adidas-Salomoon AG v ALYSIDA A.E.B.E. t/a Strike, this being a decision of the Greek Supreme Court in relation to products bearing similar stripe motifs to that of the claimant, together with clearly different wordings.
