Top ten trade mark representatives in Switzerland
The table below shows the ten trade mark representatives that filed the most applications in 2010 in Switzerland, and the percentage change in applications filed from 2009 to 2010 (last column). The total number of applications was roughly constant from 2009 to 2010 (it is difficult to get exact data on this, because the period of reporting by the Swiss IPO goes from July to July and does not coincide with the calendar year).
Most of the leading firms could substantially increase the number of filings, which - if the total number of applications is in fact constant - would indicate a consolidation process. A continued success story is Fuhrer Marbach & Partner, who have doubled their number of filings since 2007.
As always, this ranking is based on quantity alone. Quantity does not mean quality. Draw your own conclusions.
Note: The ranking is based on the applications filed in 2010, not on the combined applications filed in 2009 and 2010. The numbers for 2009 are given for comparison only.
The data is from Swissreg, advanced search, the name of the firm selected as "representative", appropriate date range, only "new registration" was selected as "reasons for publication", all the options were selected for "status". Disclaimer: I work for a law firm that also prosecutes trade marks. We are not among the top ten filers, so I don't think the fact that I am working for a competitor of the listed firms influenced the results in any way.
