Who we all are...
Putinka
Interesting report today at the News from Russia website (www.newsfromrussia.com), regarding the declining production of vodka under the trade mark Putinka (Vladimir Putin's brand) – registered also as a Community trade mark by the Liechtenstein company WTM Establishment, owner of some twenty registrations/applications at OHIM - since Vladimir Putin declared that Dmitry Medvedev is his official successor. Entrepreneurs seem to have already sent in their applications to the Russian Patent Office to register new 'Medvedevian' trade marks. Thus there is a possibility that Putinka may be replaced in the future by Medvedevka, Tsar Medved or Vladimir and Medved. Nevertheless: according to Die Welt the Putinka brand has been brining a profit of 330 million euros a year. And a by-the-way: according to the public database of OHIM there is still room for a registration of Medvedevka or Tsar Medved. Take care with Vladimir, because you could find yourself in a fight with Smirnoff, which has registered a figurative trade mark in which Vladimir is included. And Medved could be disputed by the Dutch Antilles company Anadolu, who has filed the trade mark Bely Medved for, among other things, alcoholic beverages.
