Nunzia Varricchio
DSM
Immediate Past Chair MARQUES Council

     Nunzia began her career in trade marks in 1986 at John Labatt Limited in London, Canada. In 1992, she transferred to Labatt Brewing Company Limited where she was instrumental in the establishment of Labatt International Limited, responsible for the Labatt non-NAFTA portfolio. In July 2000 Nunzia was seconded to Interbrew S.A, in Belgium to manage the integration of acquired portfolios and in the development of their in-house IP department. She is Senior Trademark Counsel for DSM.
 


Diana Versteeg

MARQUES Chair

     Diana studied law at the University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands, graduating in intellectual property law and European competition law in 1996.
Diana started her career as a trademark attorney in private practice, and as in-house counsel for Royal Numico. In 2006 she worked for DSM and subsequently moved to AkzoNobel in 2007. She is a member of the legislation commission of the Benelux Association of Trademark and Design Attorneys

     Uwe has been active as in-house counsel with strong IP- background at Bayer AG, Novartis International AG and Henkel AG &Co KGaA for more than 15 years. Presently he is Associate General Counsel and Vice President within the Henkel Law Group, leading a key account in-house counsel team for Henkel`s Laundry & Home Care Division as well as rendering legal service for different corporate functions, in particular as Head of Global Trademarks & Domain Names, responsible for Henkel`s international trademark and domain name portfolio for all Divisions.
 


David Goldring

     David is a Registered Trade Mark Attorney and a European Trade Mark Attorney and runs Oakleigh IP Services, a new firm established in 2010. After obtaining a law degree at University College, London, David joined the Trade Marks & Patents Dept of a major British company in 1977, eventually becoming Group Trade Marks Manager. From 1991 to 2010 David was Head of UK Operations for the Novagraaf Group (J.E. Evans-Jackson & Co). David was on the original Committee which set up MARQUES.
 


Gregor Versondert

MARQUES 2nd Vice-Chair

     Gregor Versondert, graduated at Cologne University, bar exam in Berlin in 1998, PhD in 2000, started his career in private practice (GAEDERTZ and Loschelder Rechtsanwälte) focusing on trademark law and unfair competition. In 2005, he joined Procter & Gamble where he took on responsibility for the company's global perfumery business for six years before taking care of its global Personal Health Care business as well as its Baby, Fem and Oral Care businesses in EMEA.

Guido Baumgartner
Coty Germany GmbH

     Guido is Head of the Department Global Brand Protection at Coty Germany GmbH. His area of responsibility is to enforce selective distribution and brand protection for the whole Coty Group. Guido qualified at the Universities of Heidelberg and Lausanne. He is a member in various industry associations and chairs the working group on Selective Distribution and Law of the German Brand Association.

Hans-Friedrich Czekay
F Hoffmann-La Roche AG

     Hans-Friedrich is Head of the Global Trade Marks Function of F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG in Basel, Switzerland, since 1991. He obtained  a doctors degree with a thesis about German and French patent law. Between 1980 and 1991 he worked as a lawyer in private practice in Hamburg, mainly in the field of intellectual property, unfair competition and antitrust law. He is author of several publications on trade mark and patent law. 
 


Ingrid de Groot
MARQUES

     Ingrid was the in-house IP counsel for the second-largest confectionery manufacturer in Europe (Perfetti Van Melle Holding B.V) for some 15 years. In 2003 she started her own business NOMILEX a.i. management for IP-counsel within the Industry. Early in 2003 Ingrid was appointed to the post of MARQUES Internal Relations Officer to further expand its role in shaping IP in Europe. Currently she is responsible for all internal matters within MARQUES. She sees the MARQUES Organisation as an important tool in achieving that purpose.
 


Cecilia Emanuelson
Inter IKEA Holding Services SA

     Cecilia is a Trademark Manager at Inter IKEA Holding Services S.A., in Waterloo, Belgium, a company dealing with legal matters on behalf of the owner the IKEA trademarks and the IKEA concept. She is practising in all aspects of trademark matters serving the IKEA franchisees in over 30 countries as well as handling TM prosecution, litigation and licensing. Cecilia is trilingual speaking Swedish, French and English and is also a member of the Well-Known and Famous Marks’ Committee of INTA.
 


Susana Fernandez Martin
Industria De Diseño Textil, SA (Inditex, SA)

     Susana obtained her Degree in Law from the University of Valladolid (Spain) in 1991 and her Master in legal practise from the Instituto de Empresa (Madrid- Spain) 1992.

Susana joined the legal department of INDITEX in June 1994 and she is now the Head of the IP department.

The IP Deptmartment is a corporate department integrated by 9 people who deal with all IP and related issues of INDITEX Group worldwide.
 


Tove Graulund
Graulund IP Services

     Tove is honorary member of MARQUES, Chairman 2001-2006 and Chair of the MARQUES Study Task Force. She is MARQUES’ representative on the OHIM Administrative Board. Tove received MIP’s Outstanding Achievement Award in 2006 and is regularly quoted in the IP press on developing issues. Previously Tove was head of Corporate IP at Arla Foods, Director Trademarks at Zacco and is now the owner of Graulund IP Services. The company offers consulting services in the areas of IP management and IP strategy to businesses as well as strategic and business development services to consultancies, firms and service providers in IP. Furthermore, Tove acts as External Consultant to WIPO.
 


Mark Hodgin
Mondelçz International

     Mark is Senior Counsel – Trademarks, Global IP at Kraft Foods UK Holdings & Services (Member of the Mondelēz International family of companies) based in Bournville, England. Mark advises the Group Companies on all aspects of IP surrounding its confectionery brands, in particular trade marks, designs, copyright, licensing, advertising and promotions, and R&D work. Mark completed his legal professional examinations. He has also obtained the IP Diploma from Bristol Unvty.
 


Joachim Hofmann
Syngenta International AG

     Joachim Hofmann is Deputy Head of Trademarks with Syngenta (Basel, Switzerland) where he handles int. trade mark, domain name and anti-counterfeit matters. He studied law at the U. of Heidelberg, holds an LL. M. degree from the U. of Miami and a PhD from the University of Mannheim.  Previously he was with Novartis and BASF.  
 


Willem Leppink
Ploum Lodder Princen

     Willem is a member of the MARQUES Council and chair of the Programming Team. Willem is the head of the IP department at Ploum Lodder Princen. He focuses on intellectual property and advertising & marketing law. He often coordinates pan-European trade mark enforcement and pan-European marketing projects. He is a domain name panelist with WIPO.
 


Jean-Pierre Maeder
Nestlé

     Jean-Pierre holds a Law Degree from the University of Berne, Switzerland and is a qualified attorney admitted to the bar. He is Group Head of Trademarks with Nestlé SA, where he has worldwide responsibilities for trademarks, designs, copyright and domain names. Prior to that Jean-Pierre was the Director Intellectual Property for Kraft Foods Company in Zürich, where he had responsibility for all of Kraft's trademarks and non-technical intellectual property rights in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia/Oceania.

 


Miguel Angel Medina
Elzaburu

     Associate partner and IP Lawyer at Elzaburu. He has a Law degree, a Psychology degree, and masters in Legal Practice and in tax and consultancy. He frequently acts in the Spanish contentious-administrative jurisdiction in IP matters, before the SPTO and OHIM. He specialises in TMs, GIs, domain names, unfair competition and related matters and has advised a wide range of multinational firms and organisations. He is a Certified Executive Coach and speaks ES, EN, DE, FR and IT.
 


Carles Prat
Baker & McKenzie

    

Carles is a Partner of Baker & McKenzie in Barcelona, practicing in all aspects of intellectual property and antitrust including all types of litigation. Author of several articles and publications on trademark and competition law issues, as well as on international procedural law. Carles is a Lecturer at the Magister Lucentinus in Alicante and other Lawschools and a Board Member of Marques. Carles is also currently the Chair of the Amicus Curiae Team of MARQUES

 


Alessandra Romeo
Buzzi, Notaro & Antonielli d'oulx

     Alessandra first received her degree in Technical and Commercial Translations and then devoted herself to the study of IP law, especially focusing on trademarks. Admitted to practice as Trademark Attorney before the Italian Patent and Trademark Office, OHIM and WIPO since 1996, she comprehensively counsels on all trademarks matters.  Conversant with the English, French and German languages, Alessandra is MARQUES External Relations Officer since February 2010.

Shane Smyth

     Shane B Sc (Comp Sc), Solicitor BCL, European Patent Attorney, Community Trade Mark Attorney and has degrees in both law and computer science. He is Managing Partner at FRKelly and is also a lecturer in computer law at Trinity College Dublin. He is a council member of MARQUES and a member of ECTA. He is the President of the Irish Association of AIPPI. Shane is co-author of the leading textbook on Irish Intellectual Property Law published by Bloomsbury Professional.
 


Massimo Sterpi

     Massimo is co-founder of the firm Jacobacci & Associati. Massimo specialises in IP, where he has substantial experience in both transactions and litigation concerning trademarks, designs, copyright and patents. In particular, he advises on major transactions involving IP rights, complex issues involving new technologies and media. He has edited to a number of publications on IP and art law topics.
 


Emma Stopford
Glaxo Smithkline plc

     Emma read law at University. Having cut her teeth on patent and trade mark litigation in London she moved to Hong Kong for 4 years where she focused primarily on trade marks dealing with the prosecution of marks, and contentious and non-contentious trade mark and copyright matters. On her return to the UK Emma moved in-house to GlaxoSmithKline in 2001 where she now heads the trade mark team looking after the Consumer Healthcare business worldwide.
 


Virginia Taylor
Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP

     Virginia is a partner in the IP group of Kilpatrick Stockton who specialises in all areas of trade mark practice. She was elected to the Council of MARQUES in September 2003. During the past year, she has worked on recruiting verifiers from various countries for the text of the MARQUES database of national laws related to geographical indications in Europe. She also is active in INTA where she served on the Board of Directors, chaired the Publications Committee and now serves on the Information Resources Committee.
 


Dieuwerke van der Schalk

     Dieuwerke (Dee) worked at the Global Brand Protection Department of Sara Lee/DE N.V. in Utrecht from 2000. In July 2012 the Coffee & Tea Division of Sara Lee split off and became the companyD.E MASTER BLENDERS 1753. She is heading the department responsible for the protection of all trademarks, designs and domain names of the new company. Dee joined the MARQUES Council in 2003 and is a member of the Intellectual Asset Management Team

Knud Wallberg
Wallberg IP Advice

     Knud was head of the trade mark department of the Danish Patent and Trade Mark Office before forming Sandel, Løje & Wallberg. He is an associate professor at the University of Copenhagen, teaching IP-law. He is the author of the law-commentary on the Danish trade mark law and published a number of articles and paers on IP-issues, incl. trade marks and domain-names. He works as a UDPR Panelist with WIPO, member of the Danish Complaints Board for Domain Names and a member of the Danish Bar Ass.
 


Hanne Weywardt

     Hanne is partner of the Copenhagen office of the regional law firm MAQS Law Firm. Hanne is a recognised expert in all aspects of IP with a focus on protection and enforcement of brands. Previously Hanne as in-house IP counsel was heading the IP department of the internationally focused tobacco company, Scandinavian Tobacco A/S. Hanne is a member MARQUES Council, Chair of MARQUES Communication and Membership Team and member of Council of The Danish Anti-Counterfeiting Group.
 


Nick Wood
Com Laude

     Nick is the Managing Director of Com Laude. Nick was the founder of Net Searchers, the UK’s first ICANN accredited domain name registrar and a Director of CPA (Computer Patent Annuities). He is the co-editor of “Domain Names: Global Practice and Procedure” . He is on the Advisory Board of the Czech Arbitration Court which is a panel provider for .eu and gTLD and he was one of three European representatives on the Implementation Recommendation Team created by ICANN’s .
