The annual Question the IP Judges event took place at UCL in London on 18 October. Hosted jointly by UCL-IBIL and MARQUES, it again provided perspectives on a range of IP issues from four judges – each of whom brought different experiences and views.

EUIPO Guidelines on RCDs

EUIPO hosted the Stakeholder Quality Assurance Panels (SQAP) in Alicante from 3 to 5 October.

 

The new Guidelines for Examination of Registered Community Designs at the EUIPO were published on 1 October.

Webinars and Seminar

The topics of the EUIPO Academy webinars for November 2018 have been announced. They include: Enforcement Database for Geographical Indications; Exhaustion of Rights and Parallel Imports; Domain names; Limitations of the list of goods and services at appeal stage; EUIPO Malware Study, Identification and Analysis of Malware on Selected Suspected Copyright-Infringing Websites; Absolute grounds: how to respond to objections raised; Intellectual Property, Public Health and Plain Cigarette Packaging; and Online substantiation.

The webinars all take place on Tuesday mornings and can be watched live or recorded after three days. Full information on timing, language and level is available on the EUIPO Academy Learning Portal.
