A User Group Meeting took place on 22 March, at which MARQUES was represented. EUIPO presented the preliminary outline and scope of the CP11 Convergence Project “Examination of formal requirements and grounds for refusal of new types of marks”. There will be a questionnaire on this topic available next month. Recent international cooperation activities include a visit to the Indian Office of the Controller General of Patents, Design and Trade Marks by a technical team from EUIPO in February. This aimed to enhance the trade marks and designs e-filing systems to harmonise with European standards. EUIPO also received a visit from a delegation from the Industrial Property Protection Directorate of Jordan in February, to perform technical work for the integration of the Jordan IP Office into TMview and DesignView. EUIPO is creating an html version of its Guidelines, which are currently only available in PDF format. A pilot showcasing a subset of the Trade Mark Guidelines provides an idea of what the final product will look like. The pilot is a work in progress, but when finished it should provide easier navigation, a better search and easy comparison of different editions. Details of the Academy Tuesday webinars for April have been announced and can be viewed on the event calendar. The IP Course for Paralegals takes place from 18 to 20 April in Alicante.
