The Summit was organised by the Germany Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection, EUIPO and the European Commission and took place in Berlin on 22nd and 23rd June. MARQUES was represented at the Summit by Council members Diana Versteeg and Roland Mallinson. The Summit focused on new trends and technologies, and explored alternative enforcement techniques relevant to the online environment. The OECD/EUIPO report maps international trade routes in 10 key counterfeit sectors and establishes that organised criminal groups are involved in IPR crime. The EUIPO/Europol report tracks the evolution of counterfeiting and piracy within the EU, both online and offline. It identifies key transit points for the distribution of fake goods, including the UAW, Saudi Arabia and Yemen (for sending goods to Africa); Albania, Egypt, Morocco and Ukraine (for sending fakes into the EU); and Panama (for goods en route to the United States). You can find links to the full reports on the Observatory website. More information about the Summit is available here: International IP Enforcement Summit.
