A message to MARQUES members from WIPO
|
MARQUES is pleased to share with members a message received from the WIPO team following this year’s Annual Conference
|
Dear MARQUES Members, It was a great pleasure meeting you again in Villaitana, Alicante. We would like to thank you for attending the WIPO session and the panel on Indigenous Intellectual Property Rights, and for showing interest in our IP services at the WIPO stand. You will find the presentations made by Debbie Roenning on the Madrid System updates and by Daphné Zografos Johnsson on Intellectual Property and Traditional Knowledge Current Work and Discussions in WIPO on the MARQUES website. As a follow-up, we wanted to highlight recent developments related to the International Trademark System and WIPO services: - Madrid Monitor: Madrid Monitor makes it easier to stay up-to-date with the latest developments on your application for international registration and all trade marks registered through the Madrid System. We invite you to test Madrid Monitor Beta and to give us your feedback. This will help us tailor the tool to your needs, before it is deployed as the single monitoring tool for all Madrid System-related inquiries.
- Madrid System Seminar: You are invited to register to our Madrid System Seminar at WIPO HQ in Geneva, Switzerland, on 24th and 25th November 2016. The Seminar is a highly practical “masterclass” during which participants will benefit from expert guidance on how to efficiently use the Madrid System. It is a must if you are looking to improve your knowledge and practical skills in filing applications and managing registrations. Discussion opportunities with WIPO examiners and guest speakers are planned. More details will be available on the Madrid Web page.
- Madrid notices and newsletter: To be informed about Madrid news and announcements, and other WIPO developments, visit the newsletter page and sign up for Madrid Notices and Madrid Highlights.
- Alternative Dispute Resolution services: The WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center provides you with time- and cost-effective dispute resolution services to assist parties in getting back to business. Services address trade mark disputes in a wide range of business transactions, including licensing, distribution, franchising and co-existence agreements, as well as in cases of direct infringement and in opposition procedures pending before national IP Offices. For news and practice pointers on WIPO's services for resolving IP and technology disputes outside courts, including domain names, subscribe to the WIPO ADR Highlights quarterly newsletter or the daily domain name decision feed.
- WIPO developments on Intellectual Property and Traditional Knowledge: The 32nd session of the Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (the IGC) will take place from November 28 to December 2, 2016. It will be preceded by a two-day Seminar on Intellectual Property and Traditional Knowledge from 24th to 25th November 2016. The proceedings of the Seminar and IGC will be webcast and available on the Traditional Knowledge website. Sign for email updates at grtkf@wipo.int to receive regular news and resources about intellectual property and traditional knowledge, as well as updates on the IGC.
We hope this information will be useful to you and your business. Please do not hesitate to contact us at intreg.mail@wipo.int, should you have any query on our global IP services. The WIPO team
