From the Observatory...

The EUIPO Observatory celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Members of the MAQUES Anti-Counterfeiting and Parallel Trade Team share their perspectives on its achievements

Petra Herkul considers the Observatory to not only be a rich source of data evidencing the size and impact of counterfeiting on the economy. The IP in the Digital World workstream focuses amongst other things on the challenges of digitisation and the collaboration between all stakeholders involved in the value chain to collectively find solutions to secure the value chain from counterfeit offerings.

After 10 successful years, the Observatory looks to the future with ambition, promoting international cooperation and addressing the challenges imposed by the new digital environment, says Sonia Santos.

For Maria Cecilia Romoleroux, the Observatory is the source of knowledge and development that allows understanding the constant changes in the counterfeiting problem.

For more information about the Observatory’s 10th anniversary, see this page on the EUIPO website.
