 23RD - 26TH SEPTEMBER 2014
The theme of the MARQUES 28th Annual Conference is “Traditional Brands in a Digital Market”. Many of the sessions will address different aspects of this question, focusing on the legal issues and challenges of creatively using social media. The conference will include discussions on issues such as new business models on the internet, website selling of counterfeit goods and limits in the digital market, as well as updates on OHIM, WIPO and European Trademark reform.
Discover Copenhagen
Copenhagen is the capital city of Denmark with a population of approximately 1,200,000. Originally a
10th century viking fishing village, Copenhagen is now a major financial centre in Northern Europe and hosts the University of Copenhagen which was founded in 1479.

Geographically situated on the eastern coast of Zealand, the city stretches across parts of the island of Amager
and also contains the enclave of Frederiksberg. With the completion of the Oresund Bridge in 1999, the city has a direct connection to Malmö, Sweden.

Famous for ‘The Little Mermaid’ the city also hosts a number of museums and palaces and of course, the world famous Tivoli Gardens in the city centre, providing a culturally rich and vibrant environment, which also aims
to be carbon-neutral by 2025!

We have secured accommodation in The Tivoli Hotel & Congress Centre and the Radisson Blu Scandinavia
Hotel which is a short distance away. Accommodation at the conference hotel (The Tivoli Hotel) will be allocated on a “first come first served” basis.

Subject to availability, special rates have been negotiated for delegates wishing to extend their stay either before or after the Conference. Rates quoted are inclusive of breakfast.

We are able to offer those delegates who choose to source their own accommodation or those who live
locally, modular participation in both the conference seminars and the social activities.

We have organised an exciting social programme and attendance at these functions is restricted to registered
delegates and registered partners only. Unfortunately we are unable to offer registrations for social functions only.

Tuesday 23rd September
Transferring from the conference hotels by boat we will arrive at the Copenhagen Opera House for an informal Welcome Reception from where you will be able to see the sun set over the city skyline.
Dress Code: Smart/Casual/Comfortable
(Gentlemen are not required to wear suits or ties)

Wednesday 24th September
Arrive at the world famous Tivoli Gardens for a drinks reception and buffet supper. There will also be plenty of opportunity to try some of the rides within the gardens.
Dress Code: Smart/Casual/Comfortable
(Gentlemen are not required to wear suits or ties)

Thursday 25th September
There will be a Drinks Reception followed by a Gala Dinner and Dancing in the Tivoli Hotel, where we are able to dance until the early hours.
Dress Code: Black Tie/Tuxedo
(An opportunity for the Ladies to wear their party dresses)

MARQUES is an authorised course provider under the UK Solicitors Regulation Authority CPD Scheme
(Ref: BKD/MARQ) and this Conference qualifies for up
to 11 hours credit.

The UK Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) will award 12 ITMA CPD points to the full conference programme and delegates who attend the Thursday workshops can be accredited with a further 2 ITMA CPD points.

For other jurisdictions Certificates of Attendance for Delegates, indicating the number of hours of educational content, can be issued on request to the MARQUES Secretariat. For those jurisdictions which require it, provisions will be made for registration of attendance at individual sessions.

Members of MARQUES are offered an “Early Bird Discount” for registration for full residential or non-residential packages booked by Friday 27th June 2014.

Please note that early registration is strongly recommended and that the latest possible date for receipt of registrations AND payment of fees is
MONDAY 15th SEPTEMBER. Unfortunately MARQUES are unable to guarantee acceptance of your registration after this date.
