| Achievements: |
December 2010
The Regulatory Team submitted an argument, drafted by Irina Lucidi, regarding the Public Consultation on the Possible Revision of the Tobacco Products Directive 2001/37/EC. The Directive, if passed, would prohibit any indication of the brand or trademark on tobacco products. The Regulatory Team's submission argues against the proposed "plain packaging" regulations as contrary to the rights of brand and trademark owners, and the rights provided under various international treaties. Copies of the argument were submitted to Commissioners and the Deputy General of the European Commission, as well as the chairman of the JURI committee of the European Parliament.
