To monitor and influence legislative, judicial and other developments in the law and practice of registered and unregistered design rights and to increase understanding of design rights and protection strategies. |

| Current Projects: |
Designs Team chair David Stone attended the Standing Committee on the Law of Trade Marks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications (SCT) in Geneva in December 2012. Progress towards an international treaty to harmonise design filing law and practice is steady but slow.
David also attended the OHIM Designs Liaison meeting with the national offices in Alicante in December 2012 - the meeting was a useful opportunity to be updated on OHIM practice and procedure relating to designs.
The Designs Team made a submission to the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office for a consultation on the protection of designs in the United Kingdom. |

| Achievements: |
On behalf fo the Designs Team, Sebastian Fischoeder has represented MARQUES at a meeting of OHIM together with other key design registries, to discuss the importance of searchable designs.
On behalf of the Designs Team, Robert Stutz continues to represent MARQUES in discussions around improving the Locarno Classification for designs.
The Designs Team has completed a Fourth Edition of its Review of Invalidity Decisions which was launched on 25 February 2011 in Madrid, and is available on the MARQUES website.
