On 1 January 2018 Madrid Monitor replaces ROMARIN, Madrid e-Alert and Real-Time Status as WIPO’s only tool for tracking international trade mark applications and registrations. Madrid Monitor is available in English, French and Spanish. All the information you need to know about the transition, including video tutorials, is available on WIPO’s dedicated page. Also on January 1, a new version of the 11th edition of the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks (Nice Classification) will enter into force. This was announced on 23 November here. The new version will be available here. The International Bureau of WIPO will apply the new version to any application for an IR received by the Office of origin on or after 1 January 2018 and any application for international registration that is received by the International Bureau on or after 1 January 2018, when the said application is received by the International Bureau after the two-month time limit referred to in Article 3(4) of the Madrid Protocol.
